A man was allegedly hit and injured by a drunk driver west of the Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A pedestrian is fighting for his life after being hit by a car near Spring Valley Sunday night.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened on Decatur Boulevard, north of Twain Avenue, at 9:36 p.m. The initial investigation determined that a 2007 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Decatur while the pedestrian was crossing the road westbound.

The driver of the Honda hit the brakes and tried to turn, but still hit the man, police said.

Both the pedestrian and the driver had signs of damage at the scene. A pedestrian with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to Trauma Center by ambulance.

The driver of the Honda also remained at the scene and was taken into custody on charges of DUI.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
