The family of Mr Borys Ledum Ndorba, one of the victims of the East Wind Airlines Sikorsky SK76 helicopter crash last Thursday, is requesting the return of his body for a proper burial.

Mr. Ndorbu was among the crew on his way to work at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) when the helicopter tragically crashed.

His son, Mr Ledum Light, shared his anguish, saying: “I got a call from his employer that day at around 3pm and told me about the accident. It was devastating. I had just spoken to my father that morning; he was healthy, healthy, there were no signs of danger.”

Despite ongoing recovery efforts, Mr. Ndorbu’s body remains missing. “As far as we know, only three bodies have been found and my father is not among them,” Mr Light said. He expressed concern about the search effort, saying: “It appears that divers are the main resource, but we believe that more developed infrastructure could help find the bodies.”

Recalling their last conversation, Mr Light said: “We spoke early this morning. He confirmed that he received the package I sent home. He remembered that they are at the assembly point, preparing to board the helicopter.” The family is now focused on getting Mr Ndorba’s body home for closure. “Our main task is to restore his body. This is what is most precious to us now. We call on the relevant authorities to do everything possible to find him.”

Ms Mbet Ledum, Mr Ndorbu’s wife, repeated the plea. “We just want to see him, dead or alive. He told us he was going to work and we wanted him to come home. Now this is our only priority.”

Ndorbu’s family, along with others affected by the tragedy, continue to call for swift action to retrieve the bodies of the missing and comfort the grieving loved ones.
