Taylor police have arrested a suspect in the latest Detroit subway attack

Taylor — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing Saturday, the city’s second stabbing in recent weeks and the latest in a string of stabbings in metro Detroit.

The latest incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. near Ecors and Mayfair, four blocks west of Pelham Road, Taylor police said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, the victim later died of his injuries in a nearby hospital,” the police said. “The suspect in this incident has been taken into custody. Our special team of detectives is actively investigating the circumstances of this event.”

“The Taylor Police Department would like to extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time,” Taylor Police said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and will share updates as they become available.”

Gofundme.com page from a woman who said she was the victim’s sister raised more than $8,000 to cover funeral and cremation costs.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Taylor Police at (734) 287-6611.

The incident is the latest in a string of recent stabbings in metro Detroit.

  • Gary Lansky, a 73-year-old Detroit man, was charged this month with assault with intent to murder after authorities said he cut the throat of a 7-year-old girl in the park in the western part of the city.
  • In August, Richard Waltier Jr. was arraigned on one count of second-degree murder after police said the 48-year-old stabbed a 58-year-old victim near Grand Traverse Street and Missaukee Court.
