Texoma fire crews are assisting with the fire in Comanche County

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) – Fire crews from across Texoma arrived this weekend to help battle a raging Comanche County wildfire.

Firefighters from Calera, Kemp, Philadelphia, Carter, Elmore City, Rush Creek, Wynnewood, Pauls Valley, Madilla and more were among the groups that went out to help.

According to US Fish and Wildlife, this fire has exceeded 10,000 acres and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge remains closed due to the effects of this fire.

The goal is to continue trying to get the fire under control as much as possible before more critical weather conditions develop on Monday.
