Vlogger couple found dead in Kerala’s Parassala, police investigating possible murder – Kerala News

A vlogger couple with a modest YouTube following was found dead at their home in Parassala, about 40 km from Thiruvananthapuram city. The bodies of the deceased, identified as Selvaraj, 45, and his wife Priya, 37, were discovered by their son when he returned home.

Selvaraj was a Freemason, while Priya was said to be involved in social activities, running a YouTube channel called ‘Sellu Family’ and having 18,000 subscribers. Both were natives of Cheruvarakonam village in Parassala. Their son, who works as an intern in Ernakulam, found his parents when he returned home and immediately informed the authorities.

According to police sources, Selvaraj was found hanging in the bedroom while Priya was lying on the bed, lifeless. The initial investigation suggested suicide, but the post-mortem report raised new questions as strangulation marks were found on Priya’s neck.

The police were investigating a case of murder. “At this time, we cannot confirm whether the woman was killed. Doctors found strangulation marks on her body during the autopsy,” said a police representative, noting that the exact cause of death will be established only after a chemical examination.

When they arrived at the scene of the murder, police said, the woman’s body showed signs of decomposition, indicating that she had probably died hours before her husband. “It is suspected that the husband died a few hours after the death of his wife, based on the condition the bodies were in when they were discovered,” the official added.

The last video on their YouTube channel was posted two days ago with only the date “October 25, 2024” as the caption, reportedly hours before their deaths. The 55-second video for the song “Vida parayukayaanenn janmam”, which roughly translates from Malayalam as “This Life Says Goodbye”, featured photos of the couple.
