Hundreds enjoy Fall Frenzy at River Prairie Park

ALTUNA, Wis. (WEAU) – From princesses to superheroes and even food, the Halloween spirit was in full swing Sunday at River Prairie Park.

Each year, the City of Altoona Parks and Recreation Department and the Altoona Police and Fire Departments host their annual Halloween celebration, inviting families to come and enjoy the park.

So, while wandering around and talking to different organizations, families were able to enjoy sweets while taking advantage of the sunny day.

“This is not just trick or treating. We have activities and you have to work for your candy. So, you know, play games, solve puzzles, do a little dance and stuff,” said Chad Duerkop, director of Altoona Parks and Recreation. “It’s just a great way for our staff or our parks and recreation department, our police department and our fire department to get out and interact with the community in a positive way.”

Duerkop said he hoped those who left left with a sense that the Chippewa Valley has a great community and a variety of places to relax socially, physically and mentally.
