1 dead, 2 teenagers injured in Akron Halloween party shooting

Akron police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old boy dead and two other teenagers injured Saturday night during what police believe was a Halloween party.

Police responded to a home in the 100 block of Paris Avenue around 10:46 p.m. and found an 18-year-old woman suffering from a serious gunshot wound, police said.

Police found a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl who were also shot. In both cases, the injuries are incompatible with life. Police said the two ran from the home after the shots were fired.

All three teenagers were taken to a nearby hospital, where the 18-year-old was later pronounced dead, police said. The other two are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police said that during the party, an unknown man pulled out a gun and fired a shot inside the home, striking the victims.

Officers apprehended an 18-year-old man after a brief foot chase and recovered a handgun he discarded as he fled, police said. However, it is not known what role, if any, he played in the filming. He was booked into the Summit County Jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business.
