Temperatures are below normal for the first week of December

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – It was cold this morning with temperatures in the low 20s and teenagers.

Today we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with southwest winds around 5-10 mph, with highs in the mid to upper 30s in the valley, low 30s and even near 20s in the higher elevations.

Mostly clear skies tonight, temperatures will drop back into the mid-teens.

A trough or dip in the jet stream will form over the Northeast for the next few days, and this will bring down temperatures. While we’ll stay dry early in the week, daytime highs will likely linger in the 30s and overnight lows will drop into the twenties.

On Wednesday we have an area of ​​low pressure that will move across the region, bringing the chance of some snow showers Wednesday night into Thursday morning, likely changing to rain by Thursday. It’s too early to say what the savings might look like.

Then on Friday it will be cold and windy. Daytime highs near freezing, with winds gusting over 20 mph.

Meteorological winter begins today, December 1st, and it will feel like winter in this first week of December.
