Police say the teenager accused of killing Hanford is no longer a suspect

HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) — The boy is 16 years old who was accused The shooting and killing of a man in Hanford is no longer considered a suspect.

Hanford police announced Sunday night that detectives have received new information and will not pursue charges in the death of 23-year-old Cruz Avalos.

Avalos was there died while driving shooting on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the area of ​​10th Avenue and Lacey Boulevard.

Investigators say witness statements confirmed that 16-year-old Hanford was the suspect.

A teenager was arrested in a separate shooting at the Santa Rosa Rancheria nearly 12 hours after Avalos’ death.

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office has identified him as the victim of the Rancheria shooting and is still searching for a suspect.

Police say the 16-year-old remains in custody on firearms charges.
