Fort Worth man arrested for drunken driving in crash that killed 83-year-old man, police say

A Fort Worth man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the death of an 83-year-old woman in a head-on collision earlier this month, officials said.

On Oct. 18, Azle Police responded to the 13500 block of FM 730 S in reference to a major accident. According to preliminary data, the Toyota Tundra was heading north crossed the center line and collided with a Honda CR-V, the police said in a message on the social network.

The driver of the Tundra, William Charles Salat, 64, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, police said. The investigation of the accident is ongoing.

As a result of the head-on collision, the Honda driver was seriously injured. An 83-year-old man identified as Marjorie Ann Henley the Tarrant County medical examiner, died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth later that night.

According to her online obituary, Henley was an ordained priest who was also very active in politics. In 2024, she was one of five candidates in the Republican Party primaries is running for a seat in the 12th Congressional District to replace Congressman Kay Granger.
