FIR lodged against BJP MLA Munirathna in Bengaluru for conspiracy to murder, insulting modesty of woman

A fresh case has been registered against BJP MLA Munirathna and six others for allegedly plotting to kill a former JD(S) contractor Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and her husband, among other offenses including voyeurism and insulting a woman’s modesty.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered by the Bengaluru police on Saturday against Munirathna, Sunandamma, Venkatesh, Laxmamma, Jayamma, Latha and others.

He was taken into custody on September 14 this year by the Bengaluru police for allegedly threatening a BBMP contractor.

According to Kolar Superintendent of Police (SP) B. Nikhila, Bengaluru police nabbed the MLA with the help of Kolar police while he was on his way to Andhra Pradesh.

A case under sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354C (voyeurism), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) has been registered against Munirathna and six others, including Vijay Kumar, Sudhakara, Kiran Kumar, Lohit Gowda, Manjunath and Loki. . . ) and 308 ( attempted murder).

Muniratna was previously arrested and released on bail on suspicion of harassment and threats.

The case was based on a complaint filed by a contractor, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The BJP MLA and three others were booked under IPC sections 37 (collaboration by committing one of several acts constituting an offence), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statements causing arbitrariness), 385 (causing fear of injury with intent to commit extortion) , 420 (Deception and dishonest inducement to transfer property) and 323 (intentional harm).

The contractor claimed that the MLA was demanding a commission of around Rs 20 lakh in connection with the contract and he offered Rs 1 lakh, but Munirathna insisted on the full amount.
