The US calls for an investigation into “election-related violations” in Georgia

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Sunday he supported calls for an investigation into “election-related irregularities” in Georgia, where a ruling party seen as close to Russia won parliamentary elections.

Citing reports from international and local observers, the top US diplomat said the pre-election situation was marked by “vote buying and voter intimidation” by the Georgian Dream party.

“We condemn all violations of international norms and join the calls of international and local observers to conduct a full investigation into all reports of election-related violations,” Blinken said in a statement.
