The footage shows Liverpool’s physiotherapist refusing to give water to the Real Madrid star during the match | football

Liverpool beat the European champions 2-0 in their own Champions League clash at Anfield on Wednesday thanks to goals from Alexis McAllister and Cody Gakpo.

Their attention turned again to the issue of the Premier League a huge clash against Manchester City awaits on Sunday. But three days after their win over Real Madrid, never-before-seen footage has emerged showing a strange altercation between a member of the Liverpool staff and Turkey international Guler.

Liverpool’s medical staff have just rushed onto the pitch to help Darwin Nunez, who needed treatment.

A member of Liverpool staff, believed to be Jonathan Power’s head of medicine and performance, can be seen in the crowd clutching his medical bag as 19-year-old Guler reaches out to try and grab a bottle.

While players are regularly seen helping themselves to water bottles during breaks in the game, the Power wasn’t having it this time.

The video appears to show him quickly snatching the bag from his hands, leaving the Real Madrid star recently linked with a move to Arsenallooking rather puzzled.

The clip caused a stormy reaction from Real fans in social networks with Spanish daily AS describing it as an “ugly gesture”.

One fan on X wrote: “First win in 15 years and this is how they behave, imagine if they won in 2018 or 2022. I had a lot of respect for Liverpool and didn’t expect anything like this from them.”

Another wrote: “This is why nobody likes Liverpool.”

Wednesday’s result leaves Liverpool at the top of the new Champions League league format, on course for automatic qualification for the play-offs in the New Year after winning five of five.

Having already lost three games in Europe this season, Real Madrid’s place is less certain, currently down to 24thousand place.

The top eight teams automatically enter the play-off phase, while the teams ranked between ninth and 24ththousand entry into the playoffs.
