It’s been more than two decades since Jamie Mitchell, played by actor Jack Ryder, left EastEnders – but where is he now?

After arriving in Billy’s (Perry Fenwick) father Stevie (Alan Ford) earlier this year, Jamie’s death was brought up when Stevie asked about him.

Jamie’s life was cut short when vengeful Martin Fowler (then James Alexandrou) hit him with his car, jealous of his relationship with Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy).

In recent years, Martin has reflected on his death, calling it “the biggest mistake of his life.”

It’s been a while since Jack Ryder was on our screens, so we decided to take a look at what he’s up to now, more than 20 years after his last scenes as Jamie.

Where is Jamie Mitchell actor Jack Ryder now?

Continuing his acting career, Jack, 43, now works as an acting coach and author. His Instagram page called Jack Ryder Sessions focuses on testimonials from other industry stars who have worked with him.

Last year, Jack helped a visually impaired boy’s dream come true by helping him write his first novel. Youngster Shane Plunge, who uses a cane and reads braille, met Jack through Henshaws, a charity based in Greater Manchester.

Speaking of your project, Jack was fascinated at the time: “I’m happy to help Shane with his book.

“His enthusiasm, commitment and attitude have been impressive and I’m sure he’s going to create a great novel. Look out for his name in bookstores in the future.”

In Jack’s life as a writer, he published several children’s books. His latest book, Journey to Mermaid Mountain, was published in July.

It follows the character of Pixie, who has been living with her grandmother since her parents were lost at sea. When she learns about a mermaid who can grant wishes, she sets off with her nanny, friend Wilde, and chatty frog Pebbles on a mission to wish her parents back.

Jack’s recent acting credits include his roles in Silent Witness and Doctors.

In the now-closed BBC daytime medical drama, Jack played the character Grant Hill in two episodes in 2019.

Also in the same year he played Evan Crowhurst in Holby City.

Evan was the obsessive, violent and controlling partner of Dr. Chloe Goddard (Amy Lennox).

In October 2019, he was killed by Cameron Dunn (Nick Jackman), who turned off his heart monitor and let him die.

This developed into a long-term storyline that saw Cam will be the next villain at Holby City Hospital. He died in 2021 after a bomb exploded in a hospital.

Crime drama Silent Witness saw Jack filming nearby Emilia Fox and David Caves in last year’s episode. He played Frank Turner, a man who ran a youth hostel.

On stage, he appeared in the West End production of Calendar Girls and was assistant director of the show, as well as appearing in stage productions of The Full Monty and Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s musical The Band.
