If you haven’t played before, Connections asks you to sort a group of 16 words into four groups where all the words are well… related. This connection can come from the fact that they have a similar meaning, are part of a place name, items found in the kitchen, or anything at all!

Although it may sound simple, each of the Connection groups has a different level of difficulty, with yellow being the easiest and purple being the most difficult. For this reason processing today’s answer is Connection can be quite difficult. You may get one group right away, but the other may be a mystery to you. Luckily, we’re here to help!

Originally developed during The New York Times Games Division’s annual games issue, Connections beta was released in June 2023. It has since become one of the most popular games The NYTimes has to offer, beaten only by Wordle. Although some connections have been made with BBC Only Connect programme

Rather than jump straight to the answer, let’s start with some clues for today’s Connections puzzle:

  • Yellow – Verbs.
  • Green – They can be on your phone.
  • Blue – Also verbs, but more careful.
  • Violet – They can do something.
  • Suggest belongs to yellow, Shazam belongs to green, and Hold belongs to blue.

Remember, yellow is the easiest color to find, followed by green and blue, and purple is the hardest set of words to connect.

Today’s connections went pretty smoothly for me! I instantly got green and then blue (despite having no idea what the category would be called). Then, after a few moments of thinking, I got yellow and then purple without missing a beat.

Spelling doesn’t count in Semantle, instead you need to pay attention to the numerical value your guesses have to chart your way to the answer. However, if you prefer the Connections format, it’s worth a visit Puzzgrid. Here you will find hundreds of Connections-style puzzles, but the main feature is that you only have three minutes to solve them.
