Controversy on Shimla’s Historic Range: Security and Heritage Concerns Growing

Tikender Singh Panwar, former deputy mayor and CPI(M) leader, filed a complaint with the police demanding action against unauthorized parking of vehicles and temporary stalls in Shimla’s historic Ridge area.

Panwar submitted the videos along with his complaint seeking an FIR for the unauthorized presence of the trucks and crane in the no-vehicle zone of the Ridge, known for its historical and structural vulnerability.

Despite high court orders banning activities on the Ridge, continued use of the area for social events and commercial stalls has prompted the Mayor of Shimla to take remedial measures.
