Officials said that if the administration does not take immediate action against the contractor, including filing a formal complaint against him, a march will be held from the PWD office to the District Collector on Monday.

Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) on Friday stopped work in protest against the contractor, accusing him of filing false complaints against junior engineer Sarup Singh. They staged a protest outside their office on Rani Jhansi Road and raised slogans against the road construction contractor.

Union engineer Sarup Singh said the contractor had been tasked with building a 320-foot road leading to the Bicycle Valley on Dhanansoo Road. “He finished work only on a 200-meter section and searched for approx 20 lakh which was denied. The contractor filed a false statement on the state portal, accusing me of extorting a bribe 50,000. Officials with disabilities are being blackmailed, which cannot be tolerated,” he said.
