University Park residents urged to stay indoors as police work to apprehend barricaded armed suspect

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL – Residents of University Park are being urged to shelter in place as authorities attempt to apprehend the barricaded armed suspect.

The incident began shortly after noon Friday when University Park police were called to pursue an armed suspect from another jurisdiction.

The suspects barricaded themselves in a building in the 700 block of Red Oak Drive, prompting a large response from police, SWAT and aviation. Residents of the district are asked to stay at home while the situation develops.
