Ben Beddoes Forecast | Freezing temperatures and light snow for the remainder of the holiday weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – It’s going to be a chilly evening in our area as temperatures start in the low 30s this evening with some clouds. Skies will clear overnight as it turns cold, with overnight lows in the upper twenties to around 20 degrees.

FIRST WEATHER DAYS are in effect this weekend as the system looks set to bring light snow accumulation Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Saturday will start sunny with a little cloudiness. It will be very cold in the morning, and by mid-morning the temperature will rise to 20 degrees. Cloudiness will increase in the afternoon, snow is possible. The maximum temperature will be from 30 to 40 degrees Celsius, cooling down to 20 degrees Celsius. As we reach the evening, snow arrives in the area. Periods of light snow will continue overnight as we see lows in the low 20s to around 30 degrees. Snow will accumulate to about an inch across much of the area. Totals are likely to be lower in southern Kentucky. This snow will be enough to cover the roads on Sunday morning, so it is likely that some churches will be canceled on Sunday morning.

Sunday will start cloudy with snow. A few rays of sunshine appear later in the day as temperatures remain low. Highs on Sunday will again reach the mid to upper 30s, with wind chills in the low 20s. Partly cloudy Sunday evening, clear skies overnight. Cooler temperatures return at night with low temperatures in middle and older age.

Monday will be sunny and cloudy all day as it cools down. The maximum temperature on Monday will reach from 20 to 30 degrees. Temperatures could reach the mid-30s in parts of southern Kentucky. Wind chill will remain at 20-30 degrees. There will be partly cloudy skies Monday evening and night as temperatures drop back to moderate to upper levels.

On Tuesday, it will be sunny with a little cloudiness, especially in the afternoon. It’s going to be another chilly day as highs drop into the low to mid 30s on Tuesday with wind chills in the low 20s. Partly cloudy skies are expected in the evening and overnight as it turns very cold with temperatures in the low to mid 20s.

There will be more cloud than sun during the day on Wednesday as it will be cool and windy. The maximum temperature on Wednesday may reach the mid-40s. Nighttime lows will drop into the mid-30s.

It will remain fairly cool at the end of next week, with highs in the mid to low 40s on Thursday and mid to low 30s next Friday. There could also be a few more snow flurries next Friday.
