Airing weekdays at 5pm, The Chase has been a staple of British television since its debut in 2009. Hosted by Bradley Walsh, contestants form teams of four to compete against a professional quiz known as The Chaser to win cash.

Mark stars in the show alongside five other stalkers: Ann Hagerty, Sean Wallace, Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha and Darragh Ennis. Ennis joined the show in 2020, becoming the first former contestant to do so.

As Daily reportS, Mark revealed on X that he had been through trials before facing the “star-studded” team while filming an episode of the show.

Mark noted that he did congratulate the winning team, but insists it was “redacted”. He wrote: “I still applauded and congratulated the team, but this has been edited :(.”

Mark’s partner Paul Sinha defended him in the comments, saying: “It’s easy to lose, we’re not robots, we’re people trying to do our best. All you see on the screen is a snapshot of us at an indeterminate moment in time over the last 18 months.”

He continued: “We could have been stressed for many reasons, many (of which) may have been long forgotten.”

As fans rushed to support Mark after the scene, one fan said: “This is the biggest disappointment I’ve ever seen. On the other hand, my wife and I laughed at how grumpy you looked, but in a nice way, if that’s possible. It’s part of the vicissitudes of a great show.”

As another added: “Out of curiosity, how long ago was this taken?? You could tell halfway through by the tone in your voice that you knew you were beaten.” as another said, “Anyone can have a bad day.”

“It’s unfortunate to hear that, although it was clear that you are not the one. Hope you get back to your brilliant intimidation soon. You will always be the stalker we fear the most (well maybe second only to @anne_hegerty lol),” another fan wrote.

It comes after Mark revealed his salary on the ITV show Daily Star: “This is the week we earn as Premier League footballers, so of course I’ll do it.” He added: “If I could get away with it I’d destroy half of them because the less Chasers the more money I get.”
