Keep and safely housed at Halifax High School

A suspect was taken into custody after a holdup at a high school in Halifax early Friday morning.

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) responded to a gun complaint at Halifax West High School in Clayton Park – a community in Halifax – on Friday morning.

The Halifax Regional Education Center (HRCE) says the school has activated a containment and safety order, but classes have continued.

Law enforcement officers placed the suspect in custody, noting that there is no threat to society.

No other details of the incident have been reported.

HRCE says the lockdown and security has been lifted and the school has resumed normal operations.

According to HRP, the public can expect a police presence into the afternoon.
