Two people were killed in a two-car crash near Truman Road at Jackson Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Missouri. Police in Kansas City, Missouri are investigating a fatal collision near Truman Road and Jackson Avenue.

Police were called to the scene around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators determined that a gray Dodge Hornet was traveling south on Jackson at a “very high rate of speed” when the vehicle ran a red light.

As a result, the Dodge collided with a silver Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on Truman at a green light.

When the Dodge hit the left side of the Ford, the Fusion hit a wooden post.

The Dodge continued southeast and crashed into the west wall of Cash America Pawn, police said.

The front passenger of the Dodge and the driver of the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver and two other passengers in the Dodge were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Law enforcement officers are checking the possible deterioration of the Dodge driver’s health.
