A man is accused of crashing into a car, injuring another

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man is facing charges after he crashed his vehicle into a car and injured another person, according to an affidavit.

Metro Nashville Police responded to the Nob Hill Apartments on Wallace Road on Saturday when Jesserel Jose Villatoro-Mejia reportedly crashed his car into another person’s vehicle. The victim, identified as Jose Mendoza, told police he had been assaulted earlier and ran away, the affidavit said.

Mendoza reportedly returned to the scene to check on his friends. When he got out of his car, he saw Villatoro-Mejia drive up to him and intentionally hit his car.

Mendoza said he was injured when the car door slammed into him.

Villatoro-Mejia told police he went looking for Mendoza because he and his brother had been attacked the day before.

Affidavits say Villatoro-Mejia told police he saw the victim’s car in the parking lot, saw Mendoza get out and start yelling and waving his arms. That’s when Villatoro-Mejia said he accelerated and tried to hit the car door with his car.

WSMV spoke with a witness at the scene Saturday who said the incident began when his brother-in-law was trying to go to work while a large party was going on in the parking lot on Wallace Road. He asked the group to quiet down, which led to a fight.

The witness also said that at some point during the fight, a machete was snatched from the man and his hand was cut off. Police told WSMV that the man was taken to the hospital with stab wounds.

The police are continuing their investigation. The condition of the stabbing victim is not known.
