Grandero Bello could put Newbury on the agenda after he bounces back to beat Harty

Grandero Bello got his career back on track by hitting 22-1 in the 2m6½f handicap chase to highlight a possible tilt at big glory in next month’s Coral Gold Cup.

The eight-year-old showed plenty of promise when running a Novice Chase at Gowran last February before finishing second to Thedevilscoachman in a Grade 3 at Limerick, but has since been restricted to just two starts.

He returned from a ten-month lay-off to finish eighth at Leopardstown in March and had another trip to the sidelines before running third under the rules by three-quarters of a length from Tire Kicker under Ricky Doyle.

“We thought he was going to have a great career, but he had a few little issues,” Doyle said. “We were hoping to enter the Kerry National but it didn’t go and the ground was too good at the Munster National. He is a real winter horse.

“The owners live a long way from Newbury, so what was Hennessy could be next.”

Finding the Lands of Glory

Sam Ewing and Gordon Elliott enjoyed a double which started with Search For Glorywho was eight lengths ahead of Sa Majeste on his fencing debut in the 2m6½f novice chase.

A dealer in tongue twisters followed the pair in the Gigginstown House Stud silks when he won a start over hurdles in a 2m5½f maiden hurdle, beating I Am Lorenzo by four and a half lengths.
