Six people were injured during a fire on an oil-carrying vessel on the Dakatiya River

At least six crew members were injured in a massive fire aboard the oil tanker MV Sadia Enterprise at Dhakatia River, Chandpur, following an explosion in the engine room on Sunday afternoon.

The injured: 35-year-old Rubel, 50-year-old Golap, 30-year-old Jilani, 30-year-old Masood, 29-year-old Ghiyas Uddin and 55-year-old Madhu Mia.

The fire broke out around 4:15 pm near the Padma Oil Company jetty, said Syed Morshed Alam, Deputy Assistant Director of Fire and Civil Defense (North), Chandpur.

According to information, around 5:30 p.m., 4 units of the fire service and coast guard extinguished the fire.

Among the wounded, Golap’s condition was critical and he was sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

However, the cause of the fire and the amount of damage are still unknown.
