Recent developments in the Middle East: one killed and dozens injured in a “terrorist attack” near Tel Aviv; The leader of Iran responded to the strikes of Israel World news

Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel’s strikes have caused “serious damage” to Iran and “achieved all its objectives”.

Israeli warplanes attacked several military targets across Iran before dawn yesterday in response to Tehran’s launch of ballistic missiles into Israeli territory earlier this month.

In his first public comments since the strikes, the Israeli prime minister said: “The air force has struck all over Iran. We have seriously damaged Iran’s defense capabilities and its ability to produce missiles aimed at us.”

“The attack in Iran was precise and powerful, and it achieved all its objectives,” he added.

Mr Netanyahu’s office last night denied reports that Israel had avoided striking Iranian gas and oil facilities because of pressure from Washington.

“Israel pre-selected the targets of the attacks in accordance with its national interests and not according to American dictates,” his office said.
