As a former MLBB pro, Toshi returned to Honor of Kings

As a former MLBB pro, Toshi returned to Honor of Kings

Adrian “Toshi” Bacallo, once a major pro player in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), is making waves again, this time in another MOBA game.

After retiring from competitive gaming and almost completely retiring from eSports, Toshi returned to the battlefield determined to rewrite his history in Honor of Kings (HoK).

His rise in MPL Philippines has been promising. Competing from seasons 4 to 8, he earned the respect of fans and players alike. But after hard work at Omega Esports and TNC Pro Team, his career went downhill.

Feeling the burden of lost opportunities, Toshi left the spotlight. “I wasn’t all in then,” he reflects. “I blew my chance.”

Now, with a new game, new challenges and a renewed sense of purpose, Toshi is ready for a second strike, and this time he’s not holding back.

Toshi began his career as a primary gold player for SGD Omega, helping the team secure third place in MPL PH Season 4.

In the 6th season of MPL PH under the rebranded Smart Omega, Toshi came extremely close to the championship. But despite their efforts, they could not overcome the power plant Bren eSportsthe same squad that went on to claim the MPL PH crown and the M2 World Championship title.

After a disappointing run in MPL PH Season 7, Toshi moved to TNC Pro Team the following season, hoping to rekindle his spark. But the rhythm that once made him a standout player eluded him, leaving Tosha feeling out of sync.

Burdened by missed opportunities and fading momentum, he retreated from the competitive scene, haunted by what seemed like lost potential.

For some time, he even thought about leaving eSports altogether. “I went back to school, studied forensics in Tarlac. I thought that maybe my eSports career was over,” he said.

However, the attraction of competition did not leave him. Just when it seemed like his story was over, fate threw him a curveball.

His former manager introduced him to HoK and said the game would make waves. Toshi decided to try to redeem himself one last time.

With a sense of unfinished business, Toshi didn’t just change the game—he left the Philippines altogether, signing with Dominator Esportsan eSports organization based in Indonesia.

It was his first performance abroad. “Being away from home was not easy,” he admits. “I really miss the Philippines, especially Jollibee. No gravy here,” he jokes.

But homesickness was only part of the adaptation. Going from MLBB to HoK meant adapting to a different type of game. “In ML, you could play on your own if you were good enough,” explains the Filipino pro. “But in HoK, you can’t win alone. Everyone should move as a unit. It’s all about teamwork.”

Now, the Filipino pro is looking to bring his redemption arc to an end with HoK. “This time I’m fully prepared,” he says. “At ML, I wasn’t fully committed. But now I give everything I have. This is my ark of atonement.”

The future is uncertain for him, but he does not look back. “For now, I’m focused on HoK. This is where I am, and this is where I belong.”
