An Arabic teacher was arrested in Mumbai after a 17-year-old girl revealed during a counseling session that she was allegedly molested by him a decade ago, a police official said on Saturday.

The case was registered on Thursday on the complaint of the school where the victim studies in Class XII, said an officer of the Powai police station.

“At the consultation, the girl said that the teacher came to her home to teach Arabic. If she was not doing her homework, the accused would touch her inappropriately. The girl said that these incidents happened when she was 6-8 years old,” the official said.

The accused was arrested within four hours of the case being registered, the official said, adding that he has been charged under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenders Act (POCSO).
