Dozens injured during an attack near Tel Aviv

At least 24 people were injured Sunday when a truck plowed into a bus stop in Ramat Hasharon, central Israel.

Police said the suspect was “shot and incapacitated” at the scene, but did not say whether the incident was being treated as an assault.

The driver also crashed into a bus that had stopped to drop off passengers, police said in a statement.

The Magen David Adom Ambulance Service said at least 16 people were taken to nearby hospitals.

Israel has faced sporadic attacks since the war against Gaza began in October 2023, following a Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7 that killed an estimated 1,200 people.

The ceremonies were scheduled for Sunday, the anniversary of the terrorist attack on October 7 according to the Jewish calendar.

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir arrived at the scene of the incident on Sunday.

Footage shared on social media shows him hugging a man who called for the “deportation” of the suspect’s family.
