Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP of orchestrating an “attack” on him

Arvind Kejriwal has accused the BJP of orchestrating an “attack” on him

The ‘padyatra’ or foot march in Vikaspur was part of a series of public rallies by AAP leaders across Delhi ahead of the assembly elections likely to be held in February 2025.

Meanwhile, other senior AAP leaders have stepped up their attacks on the BJP, alleging a “deep-rooted conspiracy” to oust Kejriwal, warning that the saffron party will be held accountable if anything happens to the former chief minister.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said, “The complicity of the police in the incident (in Vikaspur) clearly shows a deep-rooted conspiracy to kill Kejriwal. The BJP has become the enemy of his life.”

The AAP leader, however, said that despite the Vikaspur incident, Kejriwal would continue to perform ‘padyatras’ as per schedule.

Asked why the AAP did not file a complaint regarding the alleged assault on Kejriwal, Singh said the incident would not have happened if the police had been impartial.

The police officers did nothing to stop the “assailants”, who belonged to the BJP’s youth wing, he claimed, adding that AAP was seeking a legal opinion on the matter.

The police may take cognizance of the incident and start an investigation, Singh added.

The BJP rejected the AAP’s allegations, saying it was another “victim card” being played by the ruling party to malign the BJP ahead of the assembly elections.

“Despite BJP’s allegations, AAP has not filed any complaint regarding the alleged attack on Kejriwal, which shows that the party is trying to play the victim card and gain sympathy in an attempt to embarrass the BJP ahead of the Assembly elections,” Vijender said. Gupta, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly.

No video of the alleged attack has emerged or been released by AAP.
