Numerous charges have been filed against women accused of a series of fragrance thefts

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Two women are facing multiple charges after a string of burglaries in the Kansas City area where Bath & Body Works businesses are located.

Circuit Court of Platte County, Missouri records show that Kaylan M. Coppage, 24, of Kansas City, was charged Monday, Oct. 21, in connection with a string of thefts at a metro-area Bath & Body Works.

Court documents state that Coppage was initially picked up Kansas City, Kansas Police Department in early September after she was caught at Bath & Body Works at Legends Outlets. At the time, she was with another suspect, Alicia Baker-Jefferson, 22, of Kansas City, Kansas, who managed to escape.

Surveillance footage showed that Coppage and Baker-Jefferson committed several burglaries at the location together. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department has already started an investigation into the theft.

During an interview with investigators, Coppage admitted to five thefts at two different Bath & Body Works locations totaling nearly $7,500. However, surveillance footage also linked her to three additional thefts, bringing the total to nearly $12,000.

Coppage’s arrest warrant was issued Monday with bail set at $10,000. Baker-Jefferson was arrested in mid-September with bail set at $50,000. As of Saturday, Coppage has been out of jail since her release from the Wyandotte County Jail in Kansas. Baker-Jefferson is also not behind bars.

No court appearance has been set in Coppedge’s case, but Baker-Jefferson is scheduled to appear before a judge at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
