One arrested after leaving the scene of a crash that took down several utility poles and damaged a fire hydrant

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – One person was arrested after leaving the scene of a crash early Saturday morning, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD).

Police said the crash happened at 2:40 a.m. on East Clark Boulevard and involved two vehicles. One car left the scene.

The accident knocked down three poles and damaged a fire hydrant. It closed part of E. Clark Blvd. for several hours while crews worked to repair the poles.

The police reported that there were minor injuries as a result of the accident.

The driver, who fled the scene, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give immediate notice and possession of a handgun while intoxicated, MPD said.

Police have not released any details of the crash, including the name of the arrested driver.
