Cash App users have hours to file a  million claim

Application “Cash”. was ordered to pay $15 million to users of the program who encountered a security breach which led to the disclosure of personal data of millions of users.

Users can receive up to $2,500 for unauthorized or fraudulent activity on their Cash App accounts between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024. Users who have already received a refund from Block, Cash App Investing or a third party are not eligible.

The breach occurred when a former Cash App employee downloaded users’ personal information without their knowledge.

The December 2021 data breach resulted in the “unauthorized disclosure of personal information of 8.2 million current and former Cash App Investing customers,” according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs sued Cash App Investing and Block, alleging that the companies failed to “exercise reasonable care to protect and safeguard consumer information.”

Users can file claims for out-of-pocket losses, lost time and transaction losses.

For lost time, a user can submit a claim for up to three hours at a rate of $25 per hour for the time spent resolving the data breach. In the case of out-of-pocket losses, the user must show that his or her account was involved in the data breach, and with the loss of a transaction, the user must show that he or she lost money and did not receive a refund.

Users must submit only one application. Users with multiple accounts must list them on one form.
