An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault

MAYS LANDING, NJ — Eric Williams, 56, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault during a plea hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024. The guilty plea was entered in Atlantic County Superior Court, where Williams is on trial. recommended term of 12 years in New Jersey State Prison. Under the terms of the plea, Williams must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. In addition, upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and will be under parole supervision for life.

The incident that led to Williams’ conviction occurred on May 19, 2022, at the Atlantic City Bus Terminal. According to court documents, Williams sexually assaulted an adult woman who was sleeping in the terminal lobby. The attack was recorded by the terminal’s surveillance cameras, which played a decisive role in his eventual arrest.

Williams is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19, 2025 by the Honorable Judge Pamela D’Arcy. This case was jointly investigated by the New Jersey State Transit Police, highlighting the effectiveness of interagency cooperation in solving such serious crimes.
