A Navy wife has been found guilty in the death of a child in military housing in Hawaii

Hawaii jury finds Navy wife guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of a 7-month-old child due to an overdose in the militaryaccording to local news reports.

Dixie Denise Villa sentencing is scheduled for February 26, according to the report Hawaii News Now. Abigail Lobish was found dead on February 24, 2019, at Villa’s home on the Aliamanu Military Reservation in Hawaii, where Villa had been caring for her.

Abigail Lobish’s cause of death was an antihistamine overdose, according to court documents.

The trial, which began Nov. 4, took place in Hawaii’s civil court system.

In September 2019, after the child’s death, the chief of personnel at the Department of Defense called on officials to investigate reports of unauthorized daycare operations at the installations. James Stewart, then acting undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, said officials must take appropriate action to stop these unauthorized operations.
