Shocking video shows man accused of murdering family break through interrogation room wall and escape; CCTV footage goes viral

Shocking video Footage of the dramatic escape of a man accused of murdering his family has gone viral on social media, garnering more than 35 million views on X (formerly Twitter). The incident, which took place in Tierras, New Mexico, shocked the public both by the horrific crime and by the events that followed.

Adlai Mestre, 24, allegedly killed his family before being apprehended by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), according to court documents. Deputies responded to the scene after a neighbor reported shots fired at a home on Young Road.

Mestre was found bloodied with a gun in his hands. Authorities later discovered the bodies of his parents, Raimundo, 46, and Bertha, 51, as well as his 17-year-old sister Braille.

Mestre reportedly confessed to the killings, saying he shot his family members inside the house, dragged their bodies outside and tried to clean up the scene. He also admitted to shooting the family dog, which had to be euthanized due to its injuries.

While in custody, Mestre exhibited erratic behavior, wrote notes about “seismic waves” and claimed to have shot at cell towers. The viral video shows Mestre fleeing the interrogation room, kicking a hole in the wall while the officers are momentarily distracted.

Netizens react

Social networks Users reacted to the video, with many calling it a mistake on the part of the officers.

“He should have been chained to a table,” one user wrote, while another wrote: “Soooo… what did the cops think about the loud bang?”

“I wonder how much these walls cost? Did the price reflect that?” one user joked, pointing out the poor quality of the wall. “Most buildings in the US are made of cardboard lol,” commented another.

“Now if he was black he would be in handcuffs,” said one user. “I have a feeling this young man is possessed by a demon,” said another.

Mestre was quickly repelled by deputies in the corridor.
