Palestinian families hit by wave of Israeli arrests in Bethlehem camp – World News

Israel’s military operation in the occupied West Bank intensified overnight on Monday after a raid on the Dheisheh refugee camp south of Bethlehem.

At least 17 people were abducted in the operation, which Palestinian resistance groups said was part of a systematic campaign of pressure on the families of those killed or detained by Israeli forces.

Among those detained were relatives of Omar Manaa, who was fatally shot by Israeli forces during a raid in 2022, and released prisoners Karam Nasri, Yazan Jaidi and Saleh Jaidi.

According to eyewitnesses, the detainees were tied with ropes and interrogated in a nearby building.

Palestinian sources condemned these measures as acts of “terror” against the local population.

Residents reported hearing loud sounds of “breaking and destruction” during the operation, which included raids on several homes, including that of released prisoner Raghad Shamrukh.

The Dheishe camp remains under siege, with further abductions and raids reported.

Similar raids took place in other parts of the West Bank, including in Dura near Al-Khalil, the Kafr Saba neighborhood in Qalqil and the Balat refugee camp in Nablus.

The latest incident reportedly led to clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants.

Since October, Israel has significantly intensified its operations in the West Bank and Gaza.

The United Nations reports that at least 732 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank during this period, and more than 43,846, mostly women and children, have died in Gaza amid increased Israeli aggression.
