Sunny Hostin trolled for deleting X account during ‘patriotic’ protest against Elon Musk: ‘Glad she’s gone’

NEW YORK, NY: Host of “The View.” Sunny host deleted her X (formerly Twitter) account, describing the move as a “patriotic” protest against the platform’s owner, Elon Musk.

Hostin, 56, explained her decision during an appearance on the “Behind The Table” podcast, expressing her displeasure with the direction Musk has taken the platform since acquiring it.

Sunny Hostin explains the decision to delete X’s account

“Elon Musk took it and I feel like he messed it up,” Sunny Hostin said. She also mourned the loss of “Black Twitter”, which she felt had been replaced by “misogyny and racism”.

Hostin, a staunch Democrat, said she no longer wants to be associated with anything Musk, adding that she has no intention of buying Tesla or investing in Tesla stock.

“I don’t want to be associated with what he owns,” Hostin said. “I think the most patriotic thing I can do right now is to just delete the account.”

The decision comes after Hostin faced significant backlash on X over her comments about Donald Trump winning the 2024 election.

On “The View,” Hostin suggested that “ignorant white women” and Latinos were responsible for Trump’s victory. “I think (Trump’s victory) had nothing to do with politics, I think it was a referendum on cultural discontent in this country,” she said.

“Black women tried to save this country again last night…what we don’t have are white women who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump – I understand, uneducated white women. You actually have Latinos voting for him more.”

Although Sunny Hostin later clarified that she was referring to white women without college degrees, her comments were still controversial. DailyMail.com columnist Maureen Callahan was among those who criticized Hostin’s remarks, writing: “Get rid of Sunny Hostin, she’s the ‘ignorant white women’ from X.”

Some social media users also weighed in on Hostin’s departure, with one person writing: “Sunny Hostin deleted her X account after a public meltdown over the election. More and more left wingers are leaving the XI and there is a feeling that some of them will return because X and Rumble are the best programs to date.”

“Sunny Hostin talked so much about ‘ignorant white women,’ but now she’s uneducated about how to handle the backlash. I guess it’s easier to delete an account than to delete bad takes. Be brave? Better stay away,” one of the users of the social network said. added

Another said: “The only way anyone even knew Sunny Hostin wasn’t on X anymore was because .. we read about it on X. Perfect! She just canceled herself. White college-educated women send their congratulations to Sunny.”

One person wrote: “It sucks to be wrong and full of shit and to be criticized. Goodbye”.

Another commented: “I’m just glad she’s gone.”

One person responded: “Shouldn’t she have left The View too?”

“All these people decided to leave X because they can’t handle the fact that those who disagree with them (a) won the election and (b) are right,” added another.

Sunny Hostin drew flak for asking Kamala Harris about softball

Sunny Hostin previously faced scrutiny after she asked VP Kamala Harris a softball question during an interview in October. Hostin asked Harris what she would change during her tenure in the Biden administration, which many saw as Harris’ opportunity to shine.

Harris’ response drew criticism. She said, “Nothing that comes to mind.” Hostin later defended her question. “I continued because I was surprised by the response,” Hostin explained. “It was not an appropriate question. It was more about the answer. It was downtime, really.”
