Pennsylvania Republican Party Says Bomb Threat Has Locked Down Montgomery County Headquarters

The Pennsylvania Republican Party said it received a bomb threat Saturday, forcing it to close its Montgomery County caucus headquarters.

The GOP says staff received a phone call around 11 a.m. claiming the caller had made an angry profanity-laced threat to explode.

In a press release for mass media, the party issued the following statement:

Today’s incident is one of a growing number of threats, violence and intimidation against Republican candidates, offices and staff this cycle – in addition to two assassination attempts against President Donald Trump.

“Nothing will stop us from working to elect those who will get our country back on track,” said Chairman Lawrence Tabas. “And there must be unanimous agreement that political violence has no place in our elections, especially after an innocent Butler County man and father lost his life to political violence. We strongly urge the people of Pennsylvania to make their voices heard through voting, not through violence and intimidation.”
