BJP councilor Anand, accused of raping a married woman, has been suspended

Vadodara: BJP councilor of Anand municipality was booked for rape and intimidation on Sunday. Dileep alias Deepa Prajapati, a ward 6 councillor, was accused of allegedly raping a 35-year-old married woman. Prajapati was suspended from the party’s core membership on Sunday, even before the woman filed a police complaint.
According to the complaint lodged at the Anand city police station, the councilor first approached the woman on June 6, promising to share the voter card on her WhatsApp number. Later, the deputy started texting the woman.
The woman alleged that the deputy threatened to share her records with her husband. The applicant stated that she was raped by a councilor who allegedly threatened to kill her husband and children.
The applicant later stated that after she became pregnant, she told her husband about the incident and decided to have an abortion with his consent.
On Saturday night, the complainant stated that her husband had left the house to buy ice cream when the deputy forced his way into her home and raped her. When her husband returned home, the councilor tried to flee the scene but was caught by her husband and other neighbors. The councilor later summoned his brothers and a group of seven other accused who attacked the woman’s family.
A complaint was registered against the councilor, his brothers and seven other people. Earlier on Sunday, even before the complaint was registered, the BJP suspended the councilor from all posts.
Rajesh Patel (Dharmaj), Anand district BJP president, issued a letter suspending Prajapati from the party’s core membership with immediate effect.
