the Milwaukee shooting; man accused of shooting during dispute over pair

60 years old Milwaukee A man is accused of shooting and injuring a man during an argument over a couple on the city’s north side on Sunday, November 10. The defendant is Darrell Johnson and faces the following criminal charges:

  • Negligent bodily harm in the first degree
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon

According to the criminal complaint, Milwaukee police were dispatched to Froedtert Hospital on Sunday, Nov. 10, in reference to a shooting that occurred on W. Monroe St. south of downtown. Law enforcement officers spoke with a 55-year-old man who received a gunshot wound to the right hand.

The man told police he was at a friend’s house to watch football when he was shot by an acquaintance he knows as “Cool C.” The victim said he was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and the shooter was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. They “talked (obscenity)” back and forth about the bet made. At some point, “Cool C” “became angry and told (the victim) to stop talking or he would shoot him,” the complaint states. The victim continued to speak, the complaint states, and Cool C shot the victim two or three times. The complaint states that “Kul C” left the house in an SUV.

A friend took the victim to a nearby fire station so he could get help.

Investigators spoke with a witness who identified the shooter, “Cool C,” as the bus driver Milwaukee County — and also provided the police with the defendant’s phone number.

Officers were able to locate a phone number provided by a witness and found a crash investigation from Nov. 7, just three days earlier. The person involved in this crash has been identified as the defendant, Darrell Johnson. During that investigation, Johnson said, “to the responding officers, he was Milwaukee County The transit bus driver,” the complaint states.

On November 13, operatives took a photo with the deceased. He was able to identify a person he knows as “Tough C” as “the person who shot him,” the complaint states. The victim said that “he was 110% sure” that it was the shooter, the complaint states.

Online court records show Johnson was scheduled to appear for the first time Milwaukee County court on Friday, November 15.
