A man has died in hospital days after a horrific crash in Offaly as gardaí appeal for information

A MAN has died in hospital days after being seriously injured in a horrific road crash.

The collision happened on the L2007 (Rahan Road) at Ballykeenaghan in Tullamore, Co. Offalon Thursday around 9 o’clock

The driver, who was in his 40s, was being treated for his injuries at Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore but died last night.

AND garda spokesman said: “Gardai in Tullamore are continuing to investigate a single vehicle collision involving a car on the L2007 (Rahan Road) in Ballykeenaghan which occurred at approximately 9.00am on Thursday 14 November 2024.

“The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, who suffered serious injuries in the collision, was pronounced dead at Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, last night.

“The local coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.”

Gardai are appealing to anyone with information.

A spokesman said: “Any road users who may have dash cam footage (including dash cams) who were traveling in the area between 8.15am and 9.15am are asked to make this footage available for Gardaí to investigate.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Garda Tullamore Station on 057 932 7600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.”

Meanwhile, gardaí are also investigating after a young man was seriously injured in a Single car crash in Kerry overnight.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene in Ballinskelligs, County Kerry, at around 2am.

The driver, aged about 20 years, was hospitalized in the university hospital Carrie for treatment

Two passengers did not require medical assistance.

A spokesman said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic accident in Ballinskelligs, Co Kerry on Sunday 17 November 2024.

“At approximately 2am, police and emergency services responded to a single vehicle collision involving a van on a local road in Killourley, Ballinskelligs.

“The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry.

“The other two occupants of the van were examined at the scene but did not require treatment.

“The scene of the collision remains preserved for examination by Garda Collision Investigators (FCI) and local transport is being co-ordinated.

“Gardai are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Furthermore, any road users who have dashcam footage in the area at the time of the incident are asked to contact police investigating.
