Video: Gang grabs batons from Tamil Nadu policemen and beats them up – Tamil Nadu News

On Friday night, two policemen were brutally attacked by a gang in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.

On Friday evening, police responded to a complaint at a Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) liquor outlet where a group of drunken men were creating a disturbance. The complaint was filed by Isaki, who said he was attacked by a group.

Cops Ramkumar and Karuppasamy identified the group and tried to arrest them. The situation escalated into a confrontation during which one of the men grabbed a baton (lathi) from the cops and used it to attack Ramkumar.

When Karuppasamy tried to stop the group, he was pushed aside. When he tried to record the event on his phone, one of the men grabbed the device and the other punched him.

A passer-by recorded the quarrel on a mobile phone.

Additional officers arrived and rescued Ramkumar and Karuppasamy, who were later shifted to a government hospital. Following their complaint, the police registered a case against nine persons, including Palpandi, Kilirajan, Panjali Raji and Pandiaraj. Seven suspects have been arrested, the other two are wanted by the police.

The investigation is ongoing.
