Prosecutors accuse Diddy of conspiring to influence jurors while in prison | People’s news

Los Angeles: Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ troubles continue to mount as prosecutors say the rapper tried to “evade law enforcement.”

Prosecutors also alleged that he tried to “corruptly influence the testimony of witnesses” while being held at the Metropolitan Center jail in Brooklyn, People magazine reported.

In new court documents filed Friday, Nov. 15, the 55-year-old music mogul is accused of using access to other inmates’ phones by using an “unauthorized third-party messaging service” to communicate with multiple people. and involved his children in a “social media campaign” around his birthday, allegedly to influence potential jurors.

According to People, the new charges are part of prosecutors’ opposition to Combs’ latest bail request, filed Nov. 8, and after he was denied bail by two different federal judges following his indictment in September on sex charges. – trade, rackets and transport for prostitution.

In new court documents, prosecutors say Combs “offers nothing new or substantial to warrant a third bail hearing” and “continued to engage in relentless obstructionist behavior designed to undermine the integrity” of the proceedings.

In an attempt to evade the control of law enforcement agencies, the defendant, among other things, organized campaigns on social networks, which, in his own words, were aimed at tainting the composition of the jury; made efforts to publicly leak materials that he considers useful for his cause; and contacted witnesses through third parties,” the document states. “For these reasons, the Court should deny the defendant a new bail hearing.”

In opposition, prosecutors allege that Combs “repeatedly communicated with others” in a manner “to avoid” law enforcement monitoring, using other inmates’ phone access codes to make calls, using “three-way calls to contact other individuals.” “, as well as messaging “unauthorized” contacts through an “unauthorized third-party communication system.”
