A man from North Cumbria is stealing from the agency that employed him, police say

A North Cumbria man was jailed Monday on charges of making unauthorized purchases from the account of an agency that once worked for him, authorities said.

Northern Cambria County Police charged James Matthew Wiley, 36, of the 600 block of Gray Avenue, with two counts of theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

Wiley allegedly used a Quality Life Services Inc. business account, according to the affidavit. for making unauthorized purchases on August 29 for a total of $922.18.

Wiley allegedly bought a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 2 tool and impact wrench set, as well as an Echo 17-inch straight shaft gas trimmer.

The agency refused to pay the bill because it did not give Wiley’s approval.

Wiley no longer works there.

Quality Life Services supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Cumbria County.

Wiley was also charged with allegedly stealing tickets and money at the Cambria pit stop in the Hastings area.

According to the affidavit, Wiley entered the Beaver Street office at 7:46 p.m. on Sept. 17 and walked around the store until an employee left the counter.

Wiley allegedly went behind the counter and grabbed a bag of money that contained $157 in tickets and $1,687 in cash.

Hastings police charged Wiley with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Wiley was arraigned Monday in both cases by District Judge Michel Zungali of Hastings and sent to the Cambria County Jail in Ebensburg. Bond was denied.
