SCHENECTADY. An arrest warrant has been issued for the man who filed a criminal complaint against Saratoga Black Lives Matter co-founder Lexis Figuereo, according to the judge handling Figueroa’s case.

Figuereo, who was charged with fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, appeared Friday afternoon in Schenectady Municipal Court before Judge Kate McGirl. Figueroa is accused of shooting Waldo Evora with an AR-15 near a home in Schenectady on Oct. 24.

During the conference call, McGirl acknowledged that Evora now has an arrest warrant against him for criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment.

Figuereo’s partner, Gabrielle Elliott, said Nov. 1 that Evora, who is her landlord, got into an argument with Figuereo and her on Oct. 24 after she claimed he tried to illegally evict her. According to her, during this argument, Evora broke her arm and strangled Figuereo.

“At this point, we’re awaiting the rest of the district attorney’s findings,” said Ave Agri, Figuereo’s attorney. “We have had some preliminary discussions … about how to resolve this matter, especially in light of the allegations against Mr. Evora. Therefore, we hope that this will be resolved quickly and fairly, and we can put an end to this matter.”

Figuereo, who declined to comment outside court, is scheduled to appear in court again in December.
