Conor McGregor has lost a staggering $1 million bet after Mike Tyson’s disappointing loss to Jake Paul.

McGregor made a double bet – with participation Tyson vs. Paul on Friday and Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 on Saturday – but already came.

The Irishman backed Tyson, 58, to knock out Paul despite the 31-year age difference, and also put his faith in Jones beat Miocic in his heavyweight title fight.

Less than an hour before the fight, McGregor went public on social media, saying he was confident he would make the bet:

He wrote: “My two bets for the fight this weekend! Tyson KO, Jones Stoppage. $1 million is doubled.”

Unfortunately for the former MMA champion, his bet collapsed before the UFC could even begin at Madison Square Garden.

A listless and disheartened Tyson lost his first fight in 19 years by unanimous decision after eight rounds, prompting McGregor to later delete his tweet.

It was wasn’t the only “Notorious” tweet deleted Saturday nightafter crudely suggesting that Paul’s next opponent should be Prichard Colon, who remains in a vegetative state after suffering a life-changing brain hemorrhage in his 2015 fight with Terrell Williams.

You’d have to go back 22 years to find Tyson’s last victory, against Clifford Etienne, whom he knocked out in the first round.

Despite the initial bet being thrown out the window, McGregor will be set to watch the return of the two MMA heavyweight legends.

Miocic returns to the Octagon after two years, while Jones returns after an 18-month absence.

McGregor claimed last month that he had “increased his gambling profits this year by $7.7 million” after placing bets including on Spain to win the Euros and Argentina to win the Copa America.

The 36-year-old earns millions each year from his investments and businesses outside the cage, such as Proper Number Twelve and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, making him one of the richest athletes in the sport.

This is despite not having fought in the Octagon since his loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021, in which he suffered a horrific broken leg.

He was scheduled to fight Michael Chandler this year, but had to withdraw due to a toe injury.

His fortune is now estimated at $200 million, including his earnings from UFC fights.

McGregor’s biggest payday came from his lucrative boxing fight with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, which earned him close to $100 million.
