Rajkot girl rape case: 92-year-old man arrested for raping 4-year-old girl

A 92-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl in Rajkot in Gujarat, police said.

The incident came to light when the girl, who is a neighbor of the accused, identified as Navalshankar Desai, told her mother that the man was touching her inappropriately. The child’s mother filed an official complaint with the local police.

“On Thursday, I was sitting outside my house when my four-year-old daughter, who was playing near the neighbor’s house, came and said that the old man was touching her private parts. Because of which she got scared and came to me. me,” the woman claims in her complaint.

Then the girl’s mother looked at the CCTV cameras, recording the entire incident. After that, she turned to the police.

Following the woman’s complaint, the police arrested Desai the same day and produced him before the court.

“We arrested the accused on the basis of CCTV footage and produced him before the court. We will file charges within three to four days so that he can be punished soon. We have also collected all circumstantial evidence,” Zone 2 DCP Jagdish Bangarwane said.

On Friday, the police also recorded the girl’s statement under Section 164 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) before a magistrate.

The accused Navalshankar Desai lives with his grandson and 60-year-old daughter in Rajkot’s Railnagar area.
