Self-driving car crashes bus in Auckland

A hit-and-run driver hit a bus in Oakland on Friday afternoon, injuring the bus driver and a teenage passenger.

According to AC Transit officials, the crash involved a Tempo Line 1T bus around 4:20 p.m. in the bus-only lane at 64th Avenue and International Boulevard.

Officials said the bus was traveling southbound in its own lane when the driver of a black Chevrolet sedan suddenly attempted to swerve out of the common lane, crossing directly in front of the bus.

Despite braking, the bus still collided with a sedan, which immediately left the scene.

AC Transit officials said there were about 50 passengers on the bus because it was during rush hour. A teenage driver fell during the collision. Officials said their injuries were minor.

According to their protocol, an ambulance was called and the teenager, who was conscious and able to walk, was taken to a local hospital, officials said.

It is reported that the bus driver’s arm hurt, and he was also taken to the hospital.

All other passengers left the scene on their own, officials said.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said they are working to identify the vehicle involved in the crash.
