Las Vegas police kill home invasion victim Brandon Durham who called 911 for help

LAS VEGAS (KABC) — Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in which an officer killed a home invasion victim who called 911 for help.

The police came to the house and found a man who was fighting with a woman over a knife. The officer opened fire and struck the man, killing him at the scene. Only later did they discover that the murdered man lived at home and tried to fight off the woman who attacked him.

According to police, the man and woman knew each other and were in a relationship.

The incident happened on Tuesday around 12:40

Police say 43-year-old Brandon Durham called 911 to report that several people outside his home were shooting, then told the 911 operator that someone had entered his home through the front and back doors and he had locked himself in the bathroom.

He also told the 911 operator that he was at home with his 15-year-old daughter, according to police. Officers kicked the door open after arriving at the scene and hearing someone screaming and damage to vehicles parked outside the property, police said.

Officers found Durham and the suspect, identified as Alejandra Boudreau, arguing over a knife and officers opened fire, police said.

Boudreaux was not injured by the gunshot. She was convicted of home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and domestic violence.

The shooting officer is 26 years old and has been with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021. An investigation is underway to determine whether the officer acted appropriately when he fired his weapon.
